The Head of Architecture & Development will:
1. Understand the organisation's ecosystem, interdependencies, and constraints.
2. Shape a pragmatic and adaptable multi-year technology roadmap (covering applications, infrastructure, data, and technology) to shift to a position where technology is a source of strategic competitive advantage.
3. Influence and align the IT&D team and broader organisation around the roadmap, ensuring that it balances short term priorities with longer term objectives, is commercially sound, technically feasible and reflects the business's operational risk appetite.
4. Ensure that the roadmap is implemented by putting in place appropriate formal mechanisms such as governance, accountabilities and objectives complemented with less formal methods such as influencing and visioning.
5. Lead the Development team to deliver effective systems design and configuration to achieve the roadmap.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Establish a pragmatic and effective means of recording the architecture, to champion its use and to help mature the collective architectural thinking within the IT&D team.
2. Record the As-Is architecture and develop the multi-year To-Be technology roadmap.
3. Represent Architecture in major projects including advising on the appropriateness of systems, considerations regarding implementation, and overseeing implementation from an architectural perspective.
4. Drive the change towards the To-Be roadmap, directly through the Development team and by contributing to the future project portfolio.
5. Lead, motivate, retain, and mentor a team of three staff.
6. Manage and supervise the activities of the team, bringing coherence and focus to their activities and ensuring they have the resources they need to make them effective.
7. Ensure the team workload is prioritised, manageable, and monitored.
8. Work with key stakeholders to create and implement business visions and goals. Evolve the business culture to become more architecture-led, forward-planned and evidence-based, including presenting to boards, committees, etc.
9. Oversee the team's budget and ensure that activities are completed within expenditure targets.
