POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Manager, Clinical Applications, the Applications Analyst performs a variety of duties related to the implementation, development, and day-to-day support of Hospital Information System (HIS) application(s) and custom computer applications.
This includes responsibility for the efficient design, build, testing and maintenance of HIS application(s). The Application Analyst liaises with end users and consults Informatics Specialists and Senior Application Analysts to analyze requirements, identify and investigate potential solutions, assess feasibility of solutions considering available technology, budget and end user requirements and recommend solutions.
The Application Analyst will learn and support assigned HIS application(s), make recommendations for future enhancements and investigate/correct problems to optimize application use and improve business processes.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or relevant clinical field
• Certification in applicable Epic Clinical Applications (Willow Inpatient) considered an asset
• Minimum 3 to 5 years experience supporting HIS systems and custom developed applications (preferably in a healthcare environment)
• Experience in HIS project implementation and support
• Knowledge and application of project management principles
• Ability to work in multi-functional teams

• Ability to complete and deliver work assignments on time
• Effective communication skills
• Skills in business process reengineering and process flow
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Analyzes and reviews enhancement requests for compatibility, adherence to operating guidelines and performs integration testing
• Analyzes system capacity and modifies procedures to solve problems with applications ensuring that applications and information systems offer the highest possible reliability and performance
• Provides technical expertise and assistance in re-configuring, testing and developing, installing, tuning, upgrading and maintaining "department specific" applications
• Provides technical guidance for evaluation of HIS software applications
• Supports Digital Solutions and hospital project initiatives; provides configuration changes, system testing, and prepares documentation of change specifications and participates in go-live support
• Reviews and discusses business problems with end users as requested, developing flow charts, SBARs, and functional specifications to translate business requirements into technical requirements
• Prepares and presents application(s) status reports and ad hoc reports, creates test plans, analyses test cases, identifies issues and escalates them to appropriate teams and assists management in the interpretation of available information
• Creates and maintains documentation on their HIS application(s) and troubleshoots application issues, including changes in build, the creation of functional design documents and other relevant documents for end users
