THE ROLE - JUNIOR JERSEY WOMENSWEAR DESIGNER
We're looking for an ambitious Junior Designer ready to bring their creativity and commercial experience to the team at Hush. You'll leverage your research skills and relationships with Buying, Merchandising and Technical teams to develop unique and innovative designs for the Hush portfolio all designed to support delivering highly-commercial product that drives our growth strategy. Reporting into the Senior Designer you'll operate in a collaborative team to ensure designs are aligned with both our brand aesthetic and a cohesive collection.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Supporting delivery and development of the category collection from concept through to sealed samples in accordance with the critical path, maintaining all timelines by drop.
* Demonstrating a strong knowledge of garment construction, structures and techniques appropriate for the Jersey category to deliver highly commercial, brand aesthetic-aligned designs.
* Research and identify trends by story, product category, colour and materials, leveraging strong market and trend awareness; and disseminating this knowledge to all relevant parties.
* Working closely with Manager and colleagues as well as the Buying team to deliver designs that align with a cohesive range ensuring target prices, quality and delivery objectives set out in the range plan are met.
* Ensuring effective delivery to critical path deadlines.
* Analysing weekly sales and customer reviews, highlighting issues and points of note and ensuring discussion and defining resulting actions.
* Collaborating with Buying team in terms of supplier selection and management, ensuring supplier communication and contact is effective and recording all developments put into work.
* Supporting the sourcing of fabric and trims in line with quality standards and working closely with Technical team to ensure that fabric and trims meet brand performance, quality and aftercare standards and expectations.
* Attending and supporting in all fit meetings of first-to-sealed proto samples to ensure styles reflect expectations, quality, construction, correct fit and look.
* Collaborating with other team members to develop and deliver mood boards and colour palettes for sketch and swatch meetings
* Producing detailed tech-packs through liaison with factories, Technical and Buying teams to ensure all information is captured and accurate, responsible for ensuring CADs and digital presentation documents are kept up to date, ensuring the product lifecycle management system is used effectively
* Managing the fabric library for Jersey - utilising your strong knowledge of fabrications to maintain this
* Actioning wash techniques requests, embroidery artworks and print strike-offs.
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS
* Minimum of 2 – 3 years’ experience in a design role for Jersey.
* Able to demonstrate a creative eye, particularly for new and innovative silhouettes and print; able to analyse and identify market and relevant trends
* Demonstrable experience in concept research.
* Excellent commercial market knowledge demonstrated through your design handwriting.
* Confident user of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop and CAD proficient.
* In-depth knowledge of garment construction, fabrications and trims.
* Excellent ability to partner and collaborate cross-functionally.
* High attention to detail.
* Highly pro-active, organised and agile; able to operate at pace.
* Experience of Product Lifecycle Management systems.
* Self-motivated, can-do, hands-on attitude
* Excellent communication skills; able to challenge appropriately.
