We are seeking dynamic individuals to support our Community Therapy services in Surrey Downs. Applicants must have broad clinical experience, including elderly care, and enjoy providing rehabilitation services in patients’ homes. Support will be provided by the Clinical Lead and experienced Band 7 Physiotherapists. Responsibilities include training and supervising Band 5 Physiotherapists, Rehabilitation Assistants, students, and contributing to service development. Commitment to the ‘Fair Share’ student placement model is essential.
We offer extensive training, in-service education, clinical supervision, and funding for external courses.
Main duties of the job
* Assess and manage a caseload of clients in community settings, including comprehensive geriatric assessments.
* Plan, deliver, and evaluate treatment for clients with complex needs, supporting less experienced team members.
* Participate actively in multidisciplinary team initiatives to develop high-quality, innovative services.
* Promote teamwork through appropriate delegation for optimal patient and service outcomes.
* Ensure effective liaison with health and social care professionals.
* Supervise and teach junior staff, rehabilitation assistants, and students.
* Contribute to audits, implement best practice guidelines, and participate in in-service training.

Detailed job responsibilities
Clinical
* Perform advanced physiotherapeutic assessments for complex cases, creating targeted treatment plans with SMART goals.
* Deliver individual or group physiotherapy treatments aligned with best practices.
* Coordinate therapy services with other teams to ensure equitable access.
* Evaluate and adjust treatment plans, supporting junior colleagues and handing over plans to rehabilitation assistants.
* Work towards cross-disciplinary competencies and be aware of local community resources for timely referrals.
* Manage clinical risks and adhere to CSP guidelines, maintaining accurate records and confidentiality.
* Assess capacity and consent issues within legal frameworks, and contribute to departmental policy development.
Professional
* Maintain CPD and participate in performance reviews and training sessions.
* Supervise and appraise junior staff and students, and undertake audits or research projects.
* Ensure evidence-based practice and understand clinical governance and risk management.
Organizational
* Ensure safe equipment use, departmental tidiness, and efficient IT system utilization.
* Supervise junior staff and rehabilitation assistants to meet professional standards.
General Responsibilities

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Degree or diploma in Physiotherapy
* Registered with the HCPC
* Membership of CSP (desirable)
Experience
* Relevant post-qualification experience with diverse client groups
* Experience of MDT working and clinical teaching
* Proficiency in evidence-based practice and community work
* Experience with electronic records (e.g., EMIS, Systm1), Excel, Word
Skills
* Manual handling skills and physical ability for assessments and interventions
Other
* Valid driver’s license and car for work
