Assistant Site Manager Main Contractor - Commercial refurbishment projects Newcastle upon Tyne Salary - £30,000 - £40,000 company car/car allowance benefits Lemon Drizzle recruitment has been appointed to recruit an Assistant Site Manager for a Regional Main Contractor based in Newcastle upon Tyne. An introduction to the Company and what it’s like to work for them This is a well-established main contractor who predominately work in in the healthcare sector delivering refurbishment projects up to 5m in value. They have long standing client relationships and have ongoing repeat business which leads to consistent flow of work. What you’ll be doing and be responsible for You will be site based and assist in managing a range of refurbishment projects ranging from 250k to 5m, predominately in the healthcare sector. You will report into the Site Manager on larger projects and also take the lead with managing smaller jobs independently. The main objective of the role is to be able to manage projects from tender stage to client handover, delivering the project safely, on time and within budget. Key Responsibilities Oversee day to day operational duties of the project from inception to completion. Manage site activities on a day-to-day basis, including supervising labour, monitoring subcontractors, checking materials, inspecting work and overseeing quality control. Ensure on-site safety through risk assessment and risk management. Promote a positive Health & Safety culture. Liaise with buyers for material procurement and effective buying opportunities. Build and maintain strong relationships and ensure regular communications with key contacts, both internal and external customers, reporting progress on projects. What’s in it for you? This opportunity would suit an Assistant Site Manager from a main contracting background who can demonstrate successful management of commercial refurbishment projects. Healthcare experience would be preferred but experience within a live commercial environment would also be considered. Ideally you will have a trade background (joinery preferred) or be a construction graduate and have a good understanding of the strip out and refit process including the management of trades and subcontractors, health & safety, quality standards and current building legislation. We are looking for someone with ambition who would like to progress to Site Manager and beyond with the support of the company.
