Due to the continued growth of the hospital, applications are invited from veterinary surgeons with relevant postgraduate experience for the position of Anaesthesia and Analgesia Intern.
This 12-month post will provide training in all aspects of advanced anaesthesia and analgesia including exposure to acupuncture. This position would suit candidates interested in pursuing Residency in Anaesthesia and Analgesia. Participation in an on-call rota (maximum 1:4) is expected. Active involvement with clinical research is encouraged and weekly seminars augment clinical learning.

The facilities at AURA are state-of-the-art and include four operating theatres, a 160 slice CT scanner, with Injector pump, C-arm fluoroscopy unit, Cell-salvage autotransfusion unit, intra-operative imaging with NearInfraRed Fluorescence (NIRF), Interventional Radiology suite, minimally invasive surgical equipment, cystoscopy/endoscopy/bronchoscopy, 2 chemotherapy rooms plus hood room, contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (CEUS), digital radiography and full in-house laboratory.
Anaesthesia and Analgesia Duties:
* Perform pre-anaesthetic evaluations, develop anaesthetic/sedation plans, and provide recommendations for pain management tailored to individual cases.
* Provide anaesthetic management for a diverse caseload under the supervision of senior anaesthetists.
* Monitor and manage perioperative patients, ensuring optimal anaesthetic depth, stability, and recovery.
* Operate and maintain a range of anaesthetic equipment, including ventilators, nerve stimulators, and dedicated ultrasound machines for locoregional anaesthesia.
* Assist in teaching and supervising veterinary students during clinical rotations, providing guidance in anaesthetic techniques and protocols.
* Maintain accurate and detailed anaesthetic records for all patients under your care.
* Exhibit excellent communication skills and a commitment to collaborative team-based patient care.
* Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Successful Candidate
The successful candidates must be a graduated Veterinary Surgeon and preferably have completed a 12-month rotating internship or at least two years of general small animal practice. Offsite accommodation is available if required.

* Salary: £35,000 per annum.
