You will be responsible for the maintenance, test and repair a variety of measurement instrumentation and equipment. The primary task within this role is to ensure that controlled tooling, instruments, gauges, and testing devices are calibrated correctly and provide an accurate output to value stream processes. Liaising with the value stream management to provide reports on equipment status is critical to ensure Customer Acceptance Validation (CAV) requirements are met and conforming product is being built. You will be required to work with a variety of sophisticated machinery, including analytical and electronic measuring devices, recording, and indicating instruments, electrical, mechanical and electromechanical equipment. Primary roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to: - Manage and monitoring calibration schedules for equipment and gauges as detailed in the Caterpillar quality management system standards. - Ensuring controlled tooling is calibrated and fit for purpose. - Providing controlled tooling status reports to value stream management. - Maintaining measuring equipment and ensuring it remains in calibration. - Supporting the provision of controlled tooling and measuring equipment when required. - Liaising with external contractors to arrange the calibration of equipment. - Supporting controlled tooling improvements within operational value streams. Skills, experiences, and qualifications you must have: - Good knowledge of assembly processes and associated tooling and gauges. - Good knowledge of torquing processes within the factory, including the use of controlled tooling. - Good communication and interpersonal skills. - Good PC and IT skills and willing to learn software packages. - Good knowledge of measuring equipment. - An understanding of the fundamentals of torque application and principles - Knowledge of health and safety practices. Skills, experiences, and qualifications you may have: - HNC, HND, or NVQ certification. - Experience of conducting or supporting audits - safety/std work/tooling/waste walks etc. - Good knowledge of using 1E specs and engineering drawings. - Good observation and analytical skills. - Knowledge and/or experience of Lean 6 Sigma tools and techniques. - NEBOSH/IOSH qualification and/or can demonstrate a positive attitude towards safety.
