Job overview
It is an exciting opportunity to join the neurosurgery team at GOSH as a TACP. You will be working within a small team of Neurosurgery ACP's, covering both paediatric and neurosurgery care within the inpatient and outpatient setting. The team works closely with Neurosurgeons, Nursing, Allied health professionals, and Paediatricians to provide specialist and high dependency care to our patients.
You will be supported to complete the ACP pathway, inclusive of non-medical prescribing. The successful applicant will be supported by the GOSH Learning Academy (GLA).
The job involves clinical patient review and management (within your SOP), running independent clinics, management of patient pathways and care, teaching, NMP, and undertaking advanced neurosurgery skills. Following completion of the trainee post, you will join the team to cover the medical neurosurgical rota; high dependency unit; run independent neurosurgery clinics and provide specialist support to staff and families within GOSH.
Within the role, you will provide support and follow-up for the Foetal surgery programme jointly with UCLH. Act as liaison with UCLH foetal surgery, maintain databases, and provide long-term follow-up care within the spina bifida service.
Main duties of the job
1. To provide effective clinical leadership, expertise, and advice to support the delivery of high-quality nursing and medical care.
2. To provide advanced clinical care through health assessment, initiation of treatment, formulation and alteration of treatment, and monitoring of care programmes to children and young people within an agreed scope of practice.
3. To support the development of clinical protocols and care pathways for a specific case load of patients.
4. To facilitate the development of evidence-based clinical practice through improvement, research, and audit.
5. Participate in the education of the multidisciplinary team and trainee NPs.
6. To evaluate through quality assurance initiatives and assessment of clinical outcomes.
7. To be an expert clinical resource for other healthcare practitioners.

Person specification
* Current registration with a professional body recognised as able to undertake advanced clinical practice training at a Higher Institute of Education.
* Minimum of 5 years qualified & relevant clinical experience – in paediatrics or neurosurgery.
* Evidence of ongoing, dynamic, CPD, with demonstrable clinical competencies, relevant to area of clinical practice.
* Masters Degree in Advanced Clinical Practice or National diploma in ACP or willingness to work towards.
* Non-Medical Prescribing qualification or willing to undertake.
Experience/Knowledge
* Awareness of evidence-based practice and current research.
* Relevant experience in a relevant children’s healthcare environment.
