Job summary Beechwood Ward is an 18 bedded, Older Person's Acute Admission Ward. We treat everyone in our care with dignity and humanity, we understand a person's individual needs, show compassion and sensitivity, whilst providing care in a way that respects all people equally. We promote least restrictive practice and have a very experienced and diverse team on Beechwood ward. In joining us as a Recovery Worker, you will be responsible for the daily coordination & facilitation of enjoyable, functional & meaningful activities in which to engage patients who are on the ward. You will have an overview of the ward environment & ensure that it is therapeutic & recovery focussed. You will have the authority to speak with patient's relatives with the aim of ensuring their care is as personalised & patient led as possible. You will have the authority to identify scope for change & service improvement & discuss these with a clinical supervisor & the ward manager. Main duties of the job To deliver a range of social, functional and recreational activities which are accessible and meaningful to service users who have been admitted to an acute Older Person's Mental Health ward, in order to: Maintain and promote functional skills help individuals exercise choice and preference and self-occupation provide sense of enjoyment, satisfaction and mental well-being offer opportunity to take part in current interests or develop new ones and therefore contribute to their own recovery To engage all service users on the ward in group or individual sessions under the guidance of the therapy team and nursing team To encourage and support service users with self-occupation and autonomous activity To support the nursing staff with the daily routines of the ward, assisting with personal care, meal times and behaviour management About us Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is a newly established organisation, bringing together expertise from across mental health, learning disabilities, community, and physical health services.
