We have an exciting opportunity for a Production Manager to join our manufacturing facility in Great Yarmouth. In this important role, you will ensure products are manufactured safely, cost-effectively and on time and that they meet the required quality standards. Furthermore, you will ensure the effectiveness of the production team by reporting on productivity and driving change programmes to improve the efficiency aligned with best in class performance expectations.
Main responsibilities:
1. Deliver the order Backlog to maintain On Time In Full and past due Backlog targets, through working with planning manager and ERP system to develop daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules.
2. Provide concise reporting to relevant stakeholders of manufacturing progress against agreed plans, clearly identifying all risks and mitigations. Escalating, where appropriate, in a timely manner to ensure quick resolution of issues.
3. Hold regular production meetings with relevant staff to ensure output targets are understood and met, addressing any exceptions to plan with robust corrective actions.
4. Clearly define and monitor objectives and metrics aligned with company targets for the manufacturing team.
5. Support manufacturing staff through motivation, coaching, support and personal & professional development. Working with HR to create staff development programmes, succession plans and performance management objectives.
6. Support and drive Continuous Improvement opportunities targeting cost, efficiencies, and industry best practice, including implementation and maintenance of Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives.
7. Participate and constructively contribute at all relevant stages of the new product introduction process providing accountability for manufacturing execution.
8. Support customer visits and actively promote the business both internally and externally. Furthermore, supporting industry & customer audits to demonstrate compliance with specifications for manufacturing.
Qualifications:
1. Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant engineering/electronics discipline (desirable).
2. Management qualification / Chartered Member of an industry related professional body (desirable).
Knowledge and experience:
1. Manufacturing leadership position in an electronics or related industry.
2. Relevant leadership and management experience at operational level with a proven track record of success (5 years +).
3. Lean practitioner with a proven track record in continuous improvement.
4. Ability to manage high product mix with low-high volumes.
5. Proven knowledge of ERP systems and business planning tools.
6. Some awareness of Environment and Health and Safety legislation and Employment Law.
7. Experience with microelectronics in an aerospace and defence environment would be beneficial.
