How you\\\'ll make a differenceWorking as a Driver in our Transport team, you will play a hands-on role for the community by ensuring the provision of home to school transport or other transport for vulnerable young people and adults. What you will be doingDay to day, you will ensure passengers can travel from their homes to school and other locations, creating a safe and welcoming environment for all on board.It will be your responsibility to ensure the safety of all passengers during their journey.When needed, you will assist with the manual handling of wheelchairs and passengers as well as operating lifts and ramps for wheelchair users.Working closely with the Guide Escort, you will ensure the safeguarding of all vulnerable passengers. What we need from youIt is essential that you have a full, clean driver’s licence (class D/D1 with no restrictions).You must have a Driver Qualification Card (DQC) and tachograph card.Given the elements of the role, you will understand the importance of safeguarding vulnerable young people and adults.You will be able to show compassion and empathise with vulnerable groups.What you need to know You will be working split shifts in the mornings and afternoons for a total of 7 hours and 24mins per day. This role is term time only, working 39 weeks per year. Your salary is pro-rata to hours worked.Please note that due to the nature of this role, it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained. You will be expected to travel throughout the authority and surrounding area so you must have a full, valid driving licence.
