Safety • Passion • Quality • Integrity POSITION SCOPE Gain a thorough understanding of all aspects of farm trading with the farm procurement of malting barley and other grains, in addition to the profitable sale of agricultural inputs (cereal seeds, grass and oilseed rape seed, agrochemicals and fertiliser) to growers whilst maintaining an acceptable farm debt profile, with the objectives of increasing the company’s market penetration in these areas and increasing direct farm procurement. RESPONSIBILITIES Work within the grain scheduling and haulage department to obtain a thorough understanding of all aspects of grain allocation and movement. Gain a thorough understanding through short term placements of all areas covered by all departments, including; Domestic and Export/Import Grain; Seed Production; Fertiliser; Agrochemicals; Administration; Accounts; Compliance. Gain a full understanding of standard specifications and quality requirements for grain trading. Attend relevant training courses and achieve accreditation of industry standard qualifications in the use, advice and sale of agrochemicals (BASIS) and Fertiliser (FACTS). Gain awareness of wider UMG business activities through relevant placements and an understanding of the UK business. Participate in company presentations and promote the business by attending meetings, agricultural shows, trial sites and industry presentations. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE Essential Good general education, must have standard grade or equivalent English & Mathematics Excellent communication skills and an outgoing personality Ability to work on their own initiative An interest in working in a trading environment A good level of literacy, numeracy and computer skills Must hold as a minimum a provisional licence and undertake to have a full driving licence within one year Desirable Training in the merchanting business will be given but the job holder should possess the ability to understand office terminology and a basic understanding of economics would be beneficial.
