Job Title: Research Technician Physical Location: Kent Campus - Kent, OH Salary: $16.92 - $18.00 per hour Basic Function: We are seeking a full-time research technician to work in Dr. Richard Piet’s laboratory ( https://www.kent.edu/biology/richard-piet ) in the Department of Biological Sciences at Kent State University. Research in the Piet lab oratory focuses on understanding the brain circuits that control fertility in mammals. Additional Basic Function – if applicable: Examples of Duties: Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: Duties will include the maintenance of a mouse colony (including PCR Genotyping), performing experimental procedures (such as collecting brain tissue samples and small animal surgery), ordering supplies, assisting research personnel, training undergraduate students, and other work that is required for the research project. As part of these duties, applicants should expect daily contact with laboratory mice. Light lifting, as well as, frequent travel between buildings will be required. Additional Examples of Duties – if applicable: Minimum Qualifications: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a scientific field of study or at least two years of professional experience managing and/or maintaining mouse colonies. Applicants should be detailed-oriented, able to work as part of a team or independently and have good management skills. Applicants for this position should expect daily contact with laboratory mice.
