Job Summary
Our client is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Distribution (Transport) Manager to support their Distribution function in Bellshill, North Lanarkshire. You'll be delivering exceptional customer service while optimising cost efficiency. You will be responsible for implementing distribution plans, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and enhancing operational effectiveness in line with our Distribution Centre goals.
This role primarily operates Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM. However, due to the dynamic nature of logistics, occasional ad hoc or out-of-hours shifts may be required. A high level of flexibility is essential.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and optimise routing using MaxOptra.
* Manage tachograph analysis and compliance.
* Maintain strong relationships with colleagues across departments.
* Handle customer and Sales Representative inquiries professionally.
* Conduct driver de-briefing and ensure all delivery feedback is addressed.
* Coordinate with the Transport team regarding driver and vehicle availability.
* Oversee and monitor cancelled and returned orders.
* Ensure all HR & Training documentation is up to date and quality checked.
* Track and reconcile outstanding documents from depots and suppliers, resolving any discrepancies.
* Manage purchase orders within the Distribution Department.
* Provide support to Distribution Managers in ROI/SCO as required.
* Undertake any additional tasks assigned by management.
* Support routing operations, including 1 in 2 Sundays (approximately)
* Maintain strong relationships with colleagues across departments.
* KPI objectives will be set to measure performance and success in the role.
Knowledge & Experience
Essential:
* CPC Holder with 5+ years managing a fleet of 25+ vehicles and drivers.
* 5+ years’ experience managing a remote hub with full budgetary responsibility.
* Strong business acumen with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Advanced proficiency in MS Office, tachograph, WTD compliance, routing software, and Power BI.
* Full eligibility to work in Great Britain.
Desirable:
* A relevant diploma/degree or 3+ years’ experience in planning/shipping.
* Working towards or holding a Certificate of Professional Competency.
* Full Class 2 License, Driver CPC Card, and Digital Tachograph Card.
* Food Safety, Health & Safety, and Quality Audits, or a willingness to complete the required training.
