St Johns House Medical Centre has anexciting opportunity for a new team member to join our established, friendlyand dedicated hard working team.
Weare a large practice, working from purpose-built modern premises in St Johns. We arelooking for a flexible, hard working and reliable person, who enjoys contactwith the general public and is able to offer excellent communication and customer service skills.
Itis a varied and interesting role, covering medical reception and administrativeduties. Ideally you should have experience of working as a receptionist, within a healthcare setting and be educated to GCSE level or equivalent .
However, full training will begiven.
This position of 15 hours (PT) per week with set days and set hours Monday to Friday is detailed below:
Thursday: 08:00-18:30
Friday: 12:00-17:00

Main duties of the job
Medical reception including answering the telephone and speaking with patients face to face to assist patients with queries.
You will work with a team and rotate duties either in the call centre or on the main reception desk.
Daily duties such as: Booking appointments face to face and over the phone, including signposting to ensure the patient is booked with the right person, in the right place at the right time.
Receiving and recording requests for home visits, district nurse visits, telephone consultations and taking messages.
Helping to assist with general enquiries.
Answer incoming calls in a timely manner as per practice protocol.
Ensuring everything is set up for the day.

1. Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the practice.
2. To have a thorough knowledge of appointment procedures and adapt to changes.
3. Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments.
4. Using your own judgement and communication skills, ensure that patients requiring urgent medical attention are offered appropriate and timely appointments.
5. Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover, and ensure procedures are completed.
6. Receive and make telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery.
7. Accept requests for home visits according to practice procedures.
8. Action repeat prescription requests as required and within practice procedures.
9. Advise patients of relevant charges for private (non General Medical Services) services, accept payment and issue receipts.
10. Enter patient information on to the computer as required.
11. Patient notes and correspondence:
12. Retrieve and re-file records as required, ensuringstrict alphabetical order is adhered to
13. Ensure correspondence, reports, results etc. arefiled promptly and in the correct records, ensuring that all recentcorrespondence is available when patients are seen.
14. Ensure records are kept in good repair, with allnecessary information on the outside cover clearly visible.
Premises:
15. Make all necessary preparations to receivepatients.
16. Carry out end of day procedures as listed.
17. Ensure that all new patients are registered onto the computer system promptly and accurately
18. Undertake any other additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by the partners or the practice manager.
