COSHH Assessor

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Create COSHH assessments from the gathering of SDS data and proposed operational usage to the specification of engineering controls such as LEV and the use of specific PPE as required.
2. Work with the HS&E Advisors in the approval of new materials and chemicals ensuring that suitable and sufficient assessments are created or reviewed where already in use.
3. Record all COSHH risk assessments in the software system. Note operational controls and actions in the Mango software system for the tracking to closure of mitigation actions.
4. Work with the HS&E Advisors to identify suitable PPE for the use of employees when working with chemicals.
Skills
1. The post holder must be able to operate independently and flexibly, but within pre-determined guidelines and procedures.
2. They must be able to demonstrate a high degree of discretion and sensitivity whilst maintaining company confidentiality.
3. They will have excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills along with tact and diplomacy.
4. They will have experience of working in a manufacturing environment.
5. Computer literate and with good administrative skills.
6. SharePoint, Mango and Word skills advantageous.
Qualifications
1. 2 years experience in undertaking COSHH assessments in a high hazard environment.
2. Knowledge of industrial chemistry ideally including electroplating.
3. Able to pick up and use bespoke IT system for the assessment of chemical procedures.
4. CRB authorisation.
