Job summary Therapy Support Worker COTE - Deconditioning, Band 3 (18.75 hours a week) An exciting opportunity has arisen for a deconditioning Band 3 Therapy Support Worker to join the Care Of The Elderly Therapy team. The post holder will work alongside the rest of the Therapy Team to deliver a wide range of delegated therapeutic interventions including: Mobility, exercise, personal and domestic care activity and equipment provision. Motivating and encouraging patients actively to regain and maintain their independence is crucial. Weekend working as per rota Main duties of the job To work as a member of the Therapy team in an integrated and client-centred way, facilitating rehabilitation and promoting independence through the use of occupation, exercise and physical modalities. You will use the principles of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy to promote independence and prevent deconditioning. This will be achieved by implementing delegated treatment plans and facilitating rehabilitation within agreed limitations through exercise, physical modalities and the use of occupation, reporting back to the registered practitioner as necessary. You will have a key role in the prevention of deconditioning of patients across our Care of the Elderly wards. You will also work with other health professionals and healthcare assistants to raise awareness and educate staff, patients and relative about the of importance of promoting independence and prevention of deconditioning during hospital admissions. You will work directly with patients to provide interventions such as exercise programmes, practice self-care and other activities of daily living. You will also provide education and support to patients, relatives and other health care staff on the importance of promoting independence and preventing deconditioning during their hospital stay and beyond. Core working hours Monday - Friday, but you will be expected to work within any shifts in operation, which may include weekends and public holidays.
