Here at Fnality, we are powering the future of finance, together: combining best in class technology with free-flowing creativity, and expertise that can make business better for everyone. There are no precedents for what we’re doing. With you on our side, we’ll be setting new ones every day.
In a complex world, we are here to bring clarity and make positive change.
The Financial Controller Role
At Fnality, our job titles (like that at the top of this job description) are loosely held, and often more indicative of our previous experience than what we are currently working on. For example, one week you could be involved in all things around the review of accounting records ensuring they are maintained to meet our shareholder reporting requirements but the next week splitting your time between investor relations, an RFP for a new supplier, or supporting our regulatory engagement teams with a submission - so whatever the company needs to prioritise to meet its goals, whilst utilising your potential.
That being said, we would love for candidates to be able to demonstrate these competencies:
* Taking responsibility for all aspects of Fnality’s financial reporting including management accounts and annual statutory financial statements.
* Applying subject matter expertise and best practise on the company’s external reporting based on IFRS and UK GAAP.
* Driving process improvements and implementing financial controls to drive excellence in financial stewardship of shareholder funds through the business.
* Ability to review and sign contracts and approve payments based on the Board’s delegation of authority.
* Take ownership for controls over cash, treasury, and foreign exchange risks.
* Coordination of tax compliance, ideally with multi-jurisdictional tax experience.
* Ability to design inter-company and cross jurisdictional agreements to comply with tax legislation and transfer pricing.
* Working diligently with investment professionals to ensure their information rights are met through regular reporting and adequately responding to ad-hoc requests on a timely basis.
* Ability to write technical opinions of technical accounting and tax matters by leveraging past experience and conducting desk-based research.
* Manage relationships with professional services firms, tax authorities, regulators, and auditors.
* Finding the appropriate level of oversight as the business grows and scales up balancing speed of execution with internal controls.
* Being comfortable working within a cross functional team, taking part in all phases of financial control and tasks outside of your experience.
Minimum requirements for the role:
* You are a chartered Accountant (ICAEW or equivalent).
* Experience at one of the Big Four (EY, PWC, Deloitte, KPMG) strongly preferred.
* You have strong technical tax and accounting experience with IFRS a must, and US GAAP is a plus.
* You are a self-motivated doer who operates well in a team environment.
