The finance team provides proactive and effective support and information to stakeholders across Scottish Autism and beyond. They achieve this by developing a clear understanding of customer needs, the delivery of accurate and timely financial reporting, analysis and advice to meet those needs, and the maintenance of robust financial systems and controls.
About the job:
We have a Payroll Officer opportunity within our Finance team. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, you will play a key role in operating and providing dedicated Payroll support across Scottish Autism while ensuring that a high level of customer satisfaction is maintained.
In this role you will:
• You will lead and manage the small payroll team and have day to day responsibility for all aspects of payroll
• Lead, collaborate and take forward a systems review, development and implementation of service improvement actions for payroll with the aim of providing a robust payroll service
• Act as a specialist point of contact, for all pay related queries and provide professional and expert advice and guidance, ensuring that the organisation is complying with current and new legislation, best practice and internal policies including pay, income tax, national insurance and pensions
• Ensure the full reconciliation of payroll, to report accurately to HMRC and Pension providers.
• Ensure the completion of all statutory returns/legislative requirements.

You will have a recognised payroll qualification e.g. CIPP/IPPM, or extensive experience developed in a similar or equivalent role. Comprehensive knowledge of payroll rules and regulations and their application is essential along with proficient use of specialist financial systems and Microsoft applications in particular excel.
Previous experience of managing a small team is desirable.
