What does a Production Operative do?
Our Operatives are a huge part of our operation and work across areas of the plant undertaking a variety of crucial tasks to maintain our high standards. You will be part of a busy team working to assist in the manufacture of food products to the established standards of safety, output, quality and hygiene. We are looking for someone who has great attention to detail, highly motivated with passion and determination.
Responsibilities
1. Work safely at all times, in accordance with company Health & Safety policies, procedures, practices and legislation to correctly prepare packaging for food products with respect to container, label and coding.
2. Carry out cleaning schedules in the production and packing areas ensuring a very high standard of hygiene is always achieved, placing emphasis on the Factory’s “clean as you go” policy.
3. Store, feed, mix, blend, extrude, and package food products as appropriate, ensuring high standards of good manufacturing practice.
4. Pack / metal detect, inspect, products and established standards of weight control.
5. Palletise, wrap and label finished goods as required.
6. To complete to the established standard all relevant process / food safety documentation.
7. To bring to the attention of your Team Leader any discrepancies in materials, operating machinery or final product.
8. To support in other departments as required in relation to manpower deployment, holiday and absence cover.
9. To ensure food safety, legality and quality requirements are met at all times.
10. To carry out any reasonable duty as requested by Production Management.
Your profile
1. Previous experience in food manufacturing would be desirable but not essential.
2. Previous experience working with Production Plant and Equipment would be desirable but not essential.
3. All basic training will be provided; however, good numeric and computer skills are an advantage.
4. Ability to work well within a team environment – with good communication skills.
5. Results focused to ensure that all targets are met.
6. Strong communications skills, verbal and written.
7. Self-motivated and uses initiative.
8. Strong team player who adopts continuous improvement approach.
9. Promotes safe working practices.
10. Familiarity with production IT systems would be desirable but not essential.
11. Electric Pallet truck experience would be desirable but not essential.
12. Forklift experience/certification would be desirable but not essential.
Salary: Starting rate £13.79 per hour plus night shift working allowances (8.5%) where applicable. Our competitive salary comes with the opportunity to increase, through the operations grading structure, with satisfactory performance and skill-based progression.
