Based at our Luton manufacturing plant youll do just that. Established in 1993, GKN Aerospace in Luton is a world leader in commercial and military ice protection systems and transparencies. Offering a full range of capabilities; design, analysis, testing, certification and manufacture of electro-thermal ice protection, military fast jet canopies and flight deck windows to over 20 programmes including: Boeing 787, Dreamliner, Airbus A320, AgustaWestland, AW101, Eurofighter Typhoon and Lockheed, Martin F-22 Raptor. Our customers include Boeing, Airbus, Lockheed Martin, Bell Helicopters, Textron, BAE Systems, Pratt & Whitney, Leonardo. Our Luton site is home to 370 employees and onsite facilities including onsite parking, food hub and vending machines. As the Programme Manager youll join the team based at our Luton manufacturing site reporting to the Programme Director. The Programme Manager is responsible for the execution of the business cases and contracts in line with requirements and the agreed scope for the EU Defence Programme Portfolio, managing a small team of Programme Support Officers. There is the requirement to be flexible with travel, as required, to visit customers within the UK and Europe. Job Responsibilities Managing the programme team, ensuring that all GKN policies, processes and contractual obligations are adhered to. Full accountability for all programme budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting. Ownership of all stages of the Life-cycle Gate Process, from Gates 3-7, including NPI management and all relevant Technical Milestones. Supports the execution of the programme (including managing all changes) to comply with all the business case and contractual requirements for their products. Responsible for continuously monitoring the performance of the allocated programmes, managing off-track items and for reporting progress through the GKN reporting procedures. Responsible for day-to-day management of all customer related matters associated with the relevant programmes, requiring customer partnering Acts as the voice of the customer, is responsible for providing all necessary information, and supporting data to the customer, in a presentable and standardised format. Owns and defines the vision, strategy, budget for the programme to optimise cash flow, profitability and growth. Actively executes Risk, Issue and Opportunity Management to control and mitigate the risk exposure and take advantage of opportunities. Adheres to all programme management standards and policies in accordance with the GKN Aerospace Programme Management framework and contribute to process development. Responsible for planning and performance of Life Cycle Gate, including preceding Reviews and responsible for updating Sales / Demand Plan and initiating demand management for serial purchase orders. Responsible for undertaking any other activity required to ensure successful delivery of the programme. Ability to create, manage and execute multiple project plans, ensuring delivery on time and to budget. Strong communication skills and the ability to achieve by influencing others, both internally and externally. Ability to build relationships with customers and other external stakeholders. Financially astute and experienced in managing all financial areas of complex, multi-million pound contracts Desirable: Experience in commercial, engineering or operations functions Experience within the Aerospace/Defence industry sector Ability to build and lead teams Either completed or registered for acknowledged Programme Management Certification. The successful person will have excellent communication skills, working cross functionally within the business and able to work to deadlines. The position requires UK National Security Vetting (UKNSV) Security clearance (SC) due to the nature and responsibilities of the work carried out. In order for us to obtain an SC you usually need to have been resident in the UK for a minimum of 5 years to current date (but we do assess each case individually).
