Job responsibilities The main responsibilities of this position are as follows: To type daily from a dictation system patient referral letters, Statement of Fact's and Medical Reports ensuring that they are recorded on the computer system. Actioning all private work that comes into the practice. Prioritising workload, ensuring that deadlines are met. Installing and updating terminals with the current transcription programmes. Liaise with patients, hospitals, consultants, secretaries and outside organisations on a daily basis on behalf of the practice. Update and maintain patients computer records with relevant information. Attend E-Referral meetings/ training, implementing any upgrades to the system. Rearrange E-Referral appointments as necessary. Send out invites and agendas for meetings. Attend meetings to take minutes, type up and distribute these minutes. Log IT faults using self-service account. Request new and close old email and smartcard accounts. Carryout GP Registrar, F2 and Locum inductions around referrals. Notify Trusts of patient deaths Enhanced services / project work General administration duties including updating documents, actioning notes and messages, filing and photocopying. The post holder should ensure that confidentiality is adhered to at all times and that information about a patient in never divulged to anyone other than the patient themselves. It is important that all staff is prepared to take on additional duties or relinquish existing duties in order to maintain the efficient running of the practice.
