The Role
REPORTS TO: Group Director of Policy and External Affairs
The role will report to the Director of Policy and External Relations and will be responsible for analysis of the current and future evolution of the UK energy market to support the development of the Group’s policy positions and to identify risks and opportunities for the Group. The role requires expert understanding of the UK energy market and the development and application of policy and energy market mechanisms that drive investment in renewables and grid infrastructure.
Main Responsibilities
* Responsible for developing energy policy positions on a range of issues across the future development of the energy system for the deployment of renewable generation and long duration storage technologies and the development of grid infrastructure to inform Group ambitions and growth plans.
* Prepare consultation responses, insights, briefings and analysis on the development of the energy markets and associated policy frameworks taking account of cross cutting areas such as market arrangements and support mechanisms, grid regulation/charging, consenting regimes, supply chain, community investment and potential areas for innovation.
* Support in the development of engagement plans to influence policy stakeholders.
* Engage with trade association working groups and maintain a strong network of contacts and relationships with industry participants, stakeholders, external consultants.
* Ability to manage/develop 1-2 energy policy analysts carrying out supporting research and analysis.

* Expert understanding of the UK energy market and the development and application of policy and energy market mechanisms that drive investment in renewables and grid infrastructure.
* Strong experience of and ability to engage with external stakeholders.
* Experience analysing, evaluating and presenting detailed analysis of a range of complex issues to executive level, identifying opportunities and risks.
* Strong economics/financial and commercial skill set and the ability to think strategically.
* Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
* Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
* Degree level qualification and at least 5 years PQE in relevant subject.
Salary: From £90,000 (Skills and experience dependent)
