The supply of medication to the wards and departments is a complex process which involves a Stores team of over 40 people across the Trust.
Are you an enthusiastic individual with an attention for detail who could supervise a team of Pharmacy Assistants carrying out a range of tasks associated with the receipt and supply of medication?
Exceptional organisational and time management skills are essential for this person to excel in this post. The ability to direct and motivate team members and provide help, support and training to allow individuals to perform to their best and collectively for the team to achieve their goals.
37 hours 30 minutes/week
Main duties of the job
* As a member of the senior team, share the responsibility for supervising the receipt and distribution of medication throughout NuTH
* Provide help and support to the Pharmacy Team Leader as and when required
* Assist in the general routine work of the Pharmacy Stores
* Act as a positive role model to other members of the team
* Contribute to the development of the Pharmacy Stores and Distribution Service
* Provide training and guidance to junior members of staff during their induction
* Listen to the observations and feedback of colleagues and feed information back to members of the management team
* Act as first line point of contact for all aspects of the Distribution and/or Receipt of Medicines services
Job responsibilities
* Share responsibility for supervising the daily goods receipt into the pharmacy stores or distribution and topping up services with the other Senior Pharmacy Assistant
* Contribute to the development of the stores and distribution service throughout the RVI, Freeman site and Community Health
* Carry out replenishment of stock on wards and departments throughout the RVI or Freeman site
* Manage the re-call, replenishment and re-distribution of Adult and Cardiac arrest boxes and Anaphylaxis boxes throughout the RVI and Freeman sites.
* Manage the ordering and stock control of critical drugs required for the replenishment of all cardiac arrest and anaphylaxis boxes.
* Manage the receipt and processing of unlicensed medicines within the Pharmacy Store
* Manage the disposal and collection of chemical waste from the Pharmacy Store
* Assist in the general routine work of the Pharmacy Stores.
* Organise and deliver training in all aspects of pharmacy stores to new members of staff.
* Participate in training programmes as appropriate.
* Provide support to the Stores and Distribution Manager as and when required.
Person Specification
QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION
* NVQ Level 2 qualification or have equivalent practical experience which demonstrates underpinning knowledge.
* Evidence of achievement at CSE or GCSE in maths and English
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
* Knowledge of Health and Safety and COSHH regulations
* Knowledge of the principles of good stock management
* Experience of working in a stores/warehouse environment, receiving, storing, assembling and delivering goods
* Experience of supervising and directing staff
* Knowledge of drug names and uses Knowledge of Pharmacy Procedures
* Working knowledge of pharmacy computer systems
* Experience of managing or supervising staff in a Hospital or retail stores environment
* Experience of working in a pharmacy
