This is a permanent full time position.
The shift pattern for this position is Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:00 (1 day early finish).
An opportunity has arisen to work within the Board’s automated Pharmacy Distribution Centre (PDC). The post will be based within Unit F Warehouse environment of the PDC to assist in the management and facilitation of supply of medicines to all NHS GG&C areas and other Health Boards.
A good knowledge and appreciation for NHS policies, procedures and legislation in relation to dispensing/supplying medication is required.
Duties will include:
1. Supporting senior team in the management of supply of medicines.
2. Managing and training staff is essential for this role with the ability to use initiative and prioritise workload.
3. Organisational ability to plan the workload to meet the demanding needs of the service ensuring all schedules are processed and delivered according to the pre agreed service level agreement in place.
4. Maintaining appropriate documentation and communication around supply of pharmaceutical products and updating schedules.
5. Participate in the management of stock control systems including stock checks, stock rotation, expiry date checks and good housekeeping of medicines.
6. Report stock discrepancies when found.
7. Liaise with pharmacy technicians and relevant staff regarding stock levels and unavailable medicines and make suggestions to either increase or decrease stock level in accordance with usage figures.
8. You will also identify slow moving or static lines and take steps to minimise waste.
The successful candidate will have:
9. Proficient IT skills including typing and knowledge of Microsoft office packages (word, excel), email systems (outlook).
10. Able to communicate effectively by having the ability to persuade/influence people and having excellent people management skills.
11. A proficient level of general education at National 5/Standard Grade level or above is required and basic numeric and literacy skills.
12. Experience working in a Pharmacy or similar environment and relevant SVQ qualifications is desirable.
Full training will be given to the successful candidate.
Successful candidate(s) will undertake an SVQ in Pharmacy Services Group Award (at SCQF Level 6) as per the General Pharmaceutical Council’s (GPhC) requirements for the education and training of pharmacy support staff.
This post is full time post 37 hours per week – Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:00 (1 day early finish) including participation in weekend working and public holiday rotas.
