We have an exciting Band 5 occupational therapy opportunity to come and be part of our dynamic, client-centred assessment and treatment ward for older adults. The Meadows is a single storey building in the grounds of the Noble Park housing development in the former West Park Hospital site in Epsom. This is a 24/7 hospital service with 24 beds available for the care of people aged over 65 years who have dementia or organic mental ill-health (i.e decreased function due to medical or physical disease, rather than a psychiatric illness). Your role will include completing comprehensive occupational therapy assessments, delivering both individual and group interventions and working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. This role will further provide you with the opportunity to supervise and work alongside an occupational therapy apprentice. We use the Model of Human Occupation to guide all our occupational therapy assessments and interventions. We are particularly focusing on embedding occupational science and neuroscience into our practice. Staff are valued for their expertise in occupationally focused interventions and specialist group therapy. The Occupational Therapy Leadership Team is committed to an extensive, coordinated CPD programme including Trust wide training, core competence training, annual conferences, robust supervision structure, as well as reflective practice, specialist interest groups, eLearning, care groups and bimonthly occupational therapy forums. To communicate effectively with people who access services, carers, the multi-disciplinary team and when appropriate outside agencies. To contribute to the generic functioning of the team. To contribute to occupational therapy student placements. To participate in service development and audits. To take on the role of lead professional as appropriate.
