Hours: 37 hours Mon-Thurs 8.00am – 16.30pm and Fri 8.00am – 13.00pm

Our Engineering client based in Barton Under Needwood require an experienced SHE Advisor on a permanent basis.
Applicants must have experience in working from a manufacturing or engineering background.
Job Role:
1. To support the development, implementation and maintenance of compliant safety, health and environmental management systems across all activities.
2. Compile and maintain records and logs to facilitate KPI reporting.
3. Promote a positive safety culture, supporting functional and zone leaders with the management of their areas of responsibility.
4. Advising on legislation and coaching best practice, including auditing compliance to identify areas of improvement
Responsibilities:
* Support the general mission of the SHE department’s strategic activities to deliver people first commitments & legislative compliance across the business including corporate directives.
* Provide an occupational health, safety and environmental service to operational activities and its personnel, including upkeep of associated management systems and interpretation and applicability of legislation to the Company and its operations.
* Manage key improvement activities, to support implementation and continual governance of actions taken, supporting responsible Managers, and other key staff to establish and maintain key Health, Safety and Environmental improvements within their areas of responsibility.
* Manage the site internal & external audit program, ensuring compliance with all associated legislation and management system requirements.
* Support and guide internal auditors through appropriate coaching to carry out all audits scheduled, ensuring issues found are recorded and any remedial actions are managed through to completion.
* Identify opportunities for continuous safety, health and environmental improvement and implement programs to deliver said opportunities.
* Support the business external activities including, regulatory, audit and trade bodies on health, safety and environmental matters e.g., HSE, EA, BSI.
* Participate and support in accident and incident investigations, ensuring the meeting of statutory reporting deadlines to HSE where applicable, establishing root causes and suitable and sufficient controls.
* Collation & Provision of statistics, trend analysis etc. Develop and monitor H&S key performance indicators, providing management with statistical analysis and taking remedial action where necessary.
* Attend and support the quarterly Safety Committee, deputise as Chair for the SHE Manager when required.
* Manage the company’s Health Surveillance arrangements.
* Support in the implementation & continuous review of Risk/CoSHH assessments ensuring suitable and sufficient safe working instructions are determined and communicated as appropriate.
* Support the development of a culture of pro-active risk management in health, safety and environment.
* Assess the Company and individual needs for health, safety and environmental training in respect of maintaining statutory levels of training and competence.
* Carry out Site Inductions for New Employees & Contractors. Support colleagues to induct & manage Visitors to site through the provision of appropriate materials and guidance.
* Responsible for ensuring your own health and safety, and that of others.
* Report any safety concerns, hazard observations, accidents, and incidents through appropriate means.

* Experience of working and developing an integrated management system.

* Excellent understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.
* Experience of working to ISO 45001, 18001 & 9001.
* Sound IT skills (particularly Excel).
