Job Description
Start here. Grow here.
Are you ready to help us shape the future of the water industry?
Join our dynamic and multidisciplinary Water Environment team as a Principal River Restoration Specialist in one of our rapidly growing UK offices, as well as taking advantage of our flexible hybrid working model.
At AECOM, we're at the forefront of innovation, delivering an exceptional portfolio of water programmes and projects through long-term partnerships with key clients. These include Defra, Environment Agency, Natural England, UK & Ireland water companies, river and wildlife trusts, and opportunities for international geomorphology work including a rapidly growing presence in New Zealand.
In this role, you will bring expert knowledge of river restoration design and implementation; geomorphology; river modelling (environmental hydraulics and sediment transport); natural solutions; and project management. This position offers an unparalleled opportunity to support a talented, diverse team committed to innovation and efficiency.
Here's what you'll do:
1. River restoration: Planning, surveying, modelling, design and supervision of river, floodplain, wetland and catchment restoration, from quick win natural solutions to large scale re-meandering schemes.
2. River modelling: Expertise in a range of modelling techniques including HEC-RAS 2D and Sediment Transport modules and equivalent packages.
3. Collaborate: Liaise closely with AECOM teams, internal and external clients/stakeholders, and provide coaching to peers and junior team members to aid their development and strengthen our team capabilities.
4. Quality: Adhere to water environment legislation and best practices, sharing this information with colleagues and clients - with particular focuses on the UK, Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland application of the Water Framework Directive.
If you're passionate about innovation and turning bold ideas into reality, we want to hear from you!
Qualifications
Ready to push the limits of what's possible?
Here's what we're looking for:
1. Proven track record of successful delivery in river, floodplain and wetland restoration.
2. Extensive experience in river modelling.
3. Detailed understanding of legislative requirements and other drivers, and the ability to communicate with and influence non-specialists.
4. Experience in people and project management, and liaising with clients.
