Deputy Head of School
Fixed Term until July 2025
The College has four faculties, each with a Faculty Head, Deputy Faculty Head, and a number of Heads of School. The faculty management team has a strategic and operational responsibility for the management and delivery of course programmes within a group of college departments.
Purpose & Key Accountabilities
To support the Head of School in day-to-day management of individual schools and have responsibility for specific projects or management roles. It is expected that the post holder will contribute to course design and development of courses and programmes.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assisting with timetabling of courses across the school
* Assisting with supervision of team members
* Holding meetings to support the Head of School when required
* Supporting in developing and implementing a teaching cover rota for the School
* Deputising for the Head of School at meetings
* Ensuring that learners are on appropriate courses leading to progression
* Supporting personal needs and that learners receive realistic, achievable targets to aid progression
* Supporting ethos of positive behavior and encouragement in your team
* Raising standards of learners' attainment and achievement within the curriculum area and to monitor and support learner progress
As Deputy Head of School, the appointee will be expected to:
* Support the management of the area of delivery within the curriculum ensuring smooth day-to-day running of provision
* Carry out all related duties and responsibilities required as part of a teaching commitment
* Keep up to date with Industry and education developments such as new technologies and T levels
* Take on a development project
* Carry out quality audits as per college processes
* Deliver high quality teaching and learning
* Provide teaching and assessment opportunities in line with the relevant college and awarding body requirements
* Prepare Electronic Schemes of Work and Schemes for Assessment as agreed with the Head of School
* Act as a Course Tutor undertaking course responsibilities as agreed with the Head of School
* Undertake administrative tasks required for effective operation of courses
* Work with colleagues to integrate and contextualise Safeguarding and Equality and Diversity themes into the curriculum
Undertake Tutorial Responsibilities:
* Act as a course tutor with responsibility for supporting learners in achieving their learning outcomes, goals, and targets
* Track and review learners' progress and maintain learner records
* Provide feedback and reports on progress to learners, parents/guardians, employers, external agencies, the Head of School
* Support work placements as part of learners' programmes
* Carry out Serious misconduct meetings
* Communicate effectively with other team members
* Participate in course team reviews/evaluation and attend School Meetings
* Advise on resource requirements for effective implementation of courses
