Collection Keeper

37.5 hours per week 5 days from 7 including weekends and public holidays
£21,255 per annum
An exciting job opportunity has arisen for a Collection Keeper to join the team at Washington Wetland Centre. This position will give the right candidate the opportunity to work with a diverse collection of waterfowl, Chilean flamingos and our family of Asian short clawed otters.
The successful candidate will support the Collection Manager in achieving the highest standards of animal husbandry and welfare as well as working with the collection team to maintain and improve our exhibits showcasing the spectacular variety of wetland wildlife. As an engaging and dynamic animal keeper you will have a key role to play in creating unforgettable experiences for our visitors by delivering high quality talks and events, sharing your knowledge of conservation with people of all ages.
The successful candidate will have previous animal husbandry experience and you will assist in the maintenance of the collection exhibits and infrastructure on site so having prior experience in construction and maintenance of items such as fences, gates and animal housing would be an advantage, but full training will be available.
