Your new company
Hays Accountancy & Finance are partnering with a well-known and established family-owned business to recruit a dynamic & hands-on accountant to join their accounting team in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire. This newly created growth position will report directly to the Financial Controller and offers involvement in a variety of financial areas of the business. You will have the opportunity to supervise a small accounting team as well as being involved in process/systems improvement projects.
Your new role
Your key duties will involve:
1. Fixed asset accounting and maintenance
2. Month-end journals including accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations
3. Playing a key role in year-end accounts preparations along with annual audit queries
4. Balance sheet control account reconciliations
5. Year-end stock take
6. Analysis of data/management report generation
7. Completion of national statistics office forms
8. Financial reporting and submission of PSA/P11D reporting
9. Support the implementation of new accounting rules
10. Supervise/develop a small accounting team
11. Involved in ad-hoc duties and financial projects for senior management
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for the hands-on and varied Accountant role, you will need to have:
1. Experience in a similar position
2. CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualified or finalist
3. Strong MS Excel skills and key attention to detail
4. Broad accounting knowledge including financial and management accounting, treasury processes, along with ledger management
5. A proactive and dynamic working approach
6. Strong communication skills to build both internal/external relationships at all levels
7. Adaptability to business needs and experience in managing workloads
Experience within the FMCG sector, Sage 200, and managing/developing junior team members will be advantageous but not essential.
What you'll get in return
This permanent accountant role offers a salary between £40,000 - £50,000 per annum, dependent on experience based in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire.
