Our Vision: To provide the best mental health, learning disability, autism and community-based services for the populations we serve.
As an integrated mental health, learning disability and community Trust, Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services including:
1. Primary and secondary mental health care for children and adults including specialist inpatient child and adolescent mental health provision, perinatal mental health, forensic services including low and medium secure care.
2. Specialist community support for children and adults with learning disabilities and autism, including intensive support.
3. Community physical health and well-being services for children and adults.
The Trust was first established in 2002 and employs approximately 7,000 staff who provide care from more than 400 sites. The organisation offers opportunities for medics, mental health and general nurses, allied health professionals, psychology, administration and clerical staff, apprentices and volunteers.
Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust supports flexible working, believing that a positive work/life balance benefits NHS employees through improved health and wellbeing. We would consider working patterns such as term time, part time, compressed hours, home/remote working, and flexi-time.
SCM is recognised as the gold standard of care for people with Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder (EUPD). It is evidence-based and recommended in NICE guidelines. SCM has been selected by the trust as the approach to implement within the personality disorder pathway. This is an exciting opportunity for you to develop specific skills in line with evidence-based treatment and be involved in providing support for service users to recover, develop autonomy and no longer require secondary mental health services.
As well as direct face-to-face contact with the service user and group work, it is expected that the post holder will engage with the wider community system (A&E, police, inpatient and community settings) and support them to deliver evidence-based practice.
Supervision is an integral part of this job; you will be supported with regular access to supervision on a consistent basis. Clinical supervision will be provided by the PDMCN Specialist Practitioners within the PDMCN HUB including senior Clinical Leads.
It is desirable to have some knowledge of SCM and an interest in working with people with personality disorder.
Main duties of the job
Working for the local CMHT, clinically supervised by the Personality Disorder Managed Clinical Network, to provide high quality interventions for service users who have a diagnosis/present with difficulties associated with the diagnosis of Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder (EUPD).
You will be aligned to work within a Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) providing Structured Clinical Management (SCM) for a caseload of service users. You will facilitate and lead groups to support the recovery of service users.
Promote positive attitudes towards service users with complex needs by providing a responsive and non-stigmatising service, which will enhance inclusion and deliver better outcomes.
To undertake mental health assessments including risk assessments and be proficient in referring to other clinicians within the service or referring to other services/agencies where necessary.
Providing a communication structure between GPs, IAPT and secondary MH services in LSCFT, non-statutory service to ensure the highest possible standards of patient care.
To provide advice and support for the CMHT Multidisciplinary Team to deliver the highest standards of care for service users with a diagnosis of EUPD. This may include joint working at times.
You will receive regular clinical supervision from the PDMCN Specialist Practitioners and PDMCN Clinical Lead.
