Sussex Eye Hospital is looking for a passionate and skilled Nurse Manager to lead our Ophthalmology Outpatients team.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
• A highly competent, knowledgeable and visible practitioner within the speciality of Ophthalmology ensuring the provision of excellent, evidence-based care for patients/clients.
• Liaise with clinical, non-clinical, and facilities staff to maintain a safe, friendly and welcoming environment for patients/clients.
• Act as an advocate for the patient/client ensuring the provision of appropriate information and support services.
• Set, develop and monitor clinical and non-clinical performance standards, taking action as required.
• Ensure that all staff are competent in the administration of medicines in accordance with NMC guidelines and UHS Safe and Secure Handling of Medicines.
• Ensure all staff are aware of the uses, safety precautions and handling of equipment in the ward/department.
• Develop and review policies and standards for the safe use of equipment and any new equipment introduced to the department.
• Ensure all staff are aware of child protection issues and the process for reporting it.
• Ensure all staff are aware of the issues of vulnerable adults, how to detect and report it.
• Ensure staff adhere to the Infection Control and hand washing Policy to help minimise hospital acquired infections i.e. MRSA.

* Substantial experience at band 6
* Ophthalmology experience
* Leadership or management training
* Experience in leadership or management
