Specialty Doctor (2 positions available)

We have two full-time Specialty Doctor positions available within our Community and Access CBU based in Sunderland. One is fixed term for 6 months and the other is a substantive position.
This is a replacement post within the Sunderland older adult community services. The post will involve working with 4 consultants and 1 specialty doctor.
As the job description indicates, main duties and roles of the post holder include assessment of mental health difficulties in new referrals and existing patients, overseeing the results of medical investigations, responding appropriately to concerns raised, participating in MDT discussions, devising management plans, and liaising with primary care.
Main duties of the job
The clinical responsibilities of the job will include assessment (medical and psychiatric), treatment, and management of patients referred to the service. Multidisciplinary team working will be essential. Administration responsibilities include appropriate documentation as required within the Trust systems. The Doctors' work will be supervised by the consultant psychiatrist involved within that service. The job will involve 8.5 clinical PAs and 1.5 PAs dedicated to supporting you in professional activities including continuous professional development. The post holder will also be supported in developing any academic interest and to partake in audit and research.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
* MBBS (or equivalent)
* Registration with the GMC (or eligible to become registered) with a licence to practice
* MRCPsych or equivalent qualification
* Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field
* Has undergone training in educational supervision
* Has undergone training in appraisal
* Approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983
Knowledge
* Up to date knowledge in the field of psychiatry
* Awareness of current issues and controversies in service provision, mental health policy, and legislation
Experience
* Minimum of 4 years full-time postgraduate training including 2 years work experience in psychiatry
* Experience of multidisciplinary team working
* Wide clinical experience in psychiatry in different clinical settings
* Experience in multi-agency work especially with service users, carers, and voluntary agencies
* Experience in service management or development
* Experience of clinical audit
Skills
* High level of clinical skills
* Able to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
* Proven competence in diagnosis and management of psychiatric disorders
* Good teaching skills
* Ability to work in a time-efficient manner
* Established record of clinical leadership
* Established ability as a clinical teacher

Disclosure and Barring Service Check
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
Salary: £59,175 to £95,400 a year pro rata for part-time.
