Abbott Healthcare Connections is part of Abbott Toxicology Business Unit that delivers innovative Occupational Health by helping customers/clients to comply with health legislation and industry standards, manage the ongoing health of their employees, and engage their workforce to improve their health and wellbeing.
Abbott Occupational Health Business can provide a full range of services (managing the health, safety, and wellbeing) by remote case management and onsite provision work together but also through 23 medical Centers across the UK.
We are recruiting for an Occupational Health Technician (OHT) who will be based in Glasgow Prestwick Airport. In this role, you will be responsible for the delivery of a full range of Occupational Health (OH) duties including medicals, health surveillance, and wellbeing services under the supervision of Occupational Health Advisors and Clinical Team Leaders at customer sites.

What You’ll Do
* Conduct health surveillance/assessments, including the undertaking of fitness to work in safety-critical posts.
* Support the growth of a dynamic occupational health business, ensuring you deliver exceptional clinical performance.
* Support the management and undertaking of a random programme of Drug & Alcohol tests.
* Work under the indirect supervision of the Clinical Team Leader/Occupational Health Advisor, carrying out spirometry, audiometry, blood pressure monitoring, vision testing, urine testing, cholesterol testing, and Chester step testing as per customer requirements.
* Accurately complete administrative tasks as required, to maintain Occupational Health records and reports.
* Ensure that knowledge is maintained of up-to-date legislation and best practices relating to all Occupational Health issues.
* Participate in network learning opportunities, updates on clinical improvements, and actively complete performance-related clinical goals.
* Ensure that any mandatory training deadlines are met; training may be OH specific or company-wide compliance training.
* Ensure AHCC uniform is worn at all times.
Required Qualifications
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* Previous experience as an Occupational Health Technician.
* The ability to carry out medicals/surveillance including audiometry, spirometry, skin assessment, HAVS Tier 1 and 2, and safety-critical medicals.
* Experience of collecting samples for drug and alcohol testing using chain of custody protocols is desirable.
* Be able to work closely and effectively with HR, health and safety professionals, and our occupational health partners in order to provide an efficient and cost-effective service to our customers.
* Have the ability to identify key health issues based on criteria.
* Be able to prioritise workload.
* Be able to travel to other sites as required.
* Be competent in the use of computers including Microsoft and Excel software.
