Job Advert: Adults Social Worker Location: Tavistock, Devon Contract Type: Full-Time, Locum Rate: £41 Working Hours: Monday – Thursday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM Friday: 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM Hybrid Working: Flexible arrangement with a combination of office-based and home working, subject to service needs. Office Requirement: Minimum of 2.5 days per week. Role summary: We are seeking an experienced and motivated Adults Social Worker to join the team in Tavistock. This role is pivotal in supporting adults in the community, ensuring their needs are met effectively and safeguarding their wellbeing. The successful candidate will play a key role in assisting the day-to-day operational management of the team, including supervision, safeguarding processes, and reviewing functions, while deputizing for the team manager when required. Key Responsibilities: Undertake comprehensive safeguarding assessments, ensuring timely and robust responses to risks and concerns. Conduct Mental Capacity Assessments, Best Interests decisions, and manage Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards in line with the Mental Capacity Act 2005. Deliver high-quality services in line with the Care Act 2014, demonstrating strong legal literacy and adherence to statutory responsibilities. Provide comprehensive supervision and support to team members, fostering a collaborative and effective working environment. Manage waiting lists and oversee the reviewing function, ensuring cases are prioritized and resolved efficiently. Offer guidance and support to the team duty function, addressing complex cases and ensuring effective decision-making. Deputize for the Team Manager as required, maintaining consistency in leadership and service delivery. Person Specification: Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England. A minimum of 5 years post-qualifying experience in adult social care. Skills and Knowledge: In-depth understanding of safeguarding procedures and statutory frameworks. Strong knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, Care Act 2014, and other relevant legislation. Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to manage complex cases. Ability to supervise and guide a team, ensuring professional development and high standards of practice. Strong organizational and time-management skills to oversee caseloads, waiting lists, and reviews effectively. Why work in Devon?
