Line Managing: Volunteers
Hours: 32.5 hours per week to be worked flexibly including weekends
Salary: £22,010.98 ACTUAL/£12.99 per hour (£25,397.29 per annum pro rata)
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and friendly person to join the team at our wonderful West End shop.
You will be responsible for motivating and training all employees and volunteers who work in your shop, ensuring that they maintain our high standards at all times.
You will create a team spirit in your shop in line with Mountbatten’s Values, delivering excellent customer service and presenting a professional image to employees, volunteers and customers, reflecting the image, reputation and values of Mountbatten.
Overview of Role:
To maximise sales and minimise costs through accountable effective management of employees, volunteers, stock and administration. Responsible for motivating and training all employees and volunteers who work in your shop ensuring that they maintain our high standards at all times. Liaise with other departments within Mountbatten, including Warehouse, Fundraising, Finance, People Services and Voluntary Services.
Key Tasks:
1. SALES
o Achieve profit targets, advising of any concerns to the Area Manager.
o Ensure that the high standard of service to customers that is expected by Mountbatten is maintained at all times.
o Actively promote Mountbatten furniture collection and delivery service, utilize all social media and promotional materials.
o Actively support any fundraising promotions as required by Mountbatten.
o Implement any promotion in your shop as advised by Mountbatten.
2. SHOP APPEARANCE
o Maintain a high standard of presentation, both in the windows and the interior of the shop.
o Ensure the sales floor layout is as per the current guidelines in conjunction with the Area Manager.
o Achieve and maintain high standards of housekeeping, organisation and cleanliness throughout the shop premises.
o Ensure the window and in-store displays are relevant and of a good standard.
3. STOCK
o Price stock at a consistent level in accordance with Mountbatten price guides.
o Ensure the shop floor stock density is kept full by ensuring there is adequate stock available at all times, liaising as necessary with the Warehouse team.
o Liaise with Warehouse team to ensure all donated goods are collected as necessary.
o Rotate stock on a regular basis in line with Mountbatten guidelines, so that no garment remains on the shop floor for any longer than the agreed time limits.
o Ensure there is adequate stock available on the shop floor at all times, on all key lines including hanging and non-hanging, ticketing, sizing and dating all clothing as appropriate.
o Actively ask and promote Gift Aid to all customers.
o Ensure the quality of stock is of an acceptable standard and report/return any items to the warehouse that do not meet the required quality standard.
o Assist the Warehouse manager as per the needs of the business.
o View customer product and select relevant items whilst maintaining sensitivity when refusing non-sellable products.
o Assist delivery driver as per needs of the business.
4. STOCK AREAS
o Keep stock areas organised, uncluttered, and promote safe working practices.
o Organise the return of stock to the warehouse as required.
o Report to the Warehouse and Area Manager any stock issues.
o Ensure all stock is not hoarded in the shop and rotated across the Mountbatten retail estate to maximise profitability, utilise the Warehouse to rotate when required.
5. VOLUNTARY STAFF
o Ensure that tasks are properly delegated to volunteers in accordance with their training and abilities.
o Promote a happy working environment to increase efficiency and job satisfaction.
o Assist in the recruitment and training of Volunteers including all Health and Safety.
o Encourage volunteers to take on key roles and extra responsibility.
o Communicate any concerns in relation to volunteers to the Area Manager/Volunteer Coordinator.
o Organise and manage the volunteer rota, ensuring everyone is aware of their hours of work.
6. ADMINISTRATION AND SECURITY
o Complete all relevant administration on time in accordance to our policies and procedures.
o Ensure correct procedures are followed for receipt of donated goods, including Gift Aid, Recording of donors as appropriate.
o Bank takings in accordance with Mountbatten procedures.
o Order consumables/stationery as necessary.
o Ensure that all Mountbatten till procedures are adhered to and that cash is kept secure at all times.
o Notify the Area Manager in the event of a break in, suspected theft or security incident.
o Immediately report any concerns regarding abuse/incidents of unacceptable behavior.
o Liaise with the Area Manager as required to request holiday, report absences and organise cover for the shop.
o Attend all Shop Manager meetings as required.
o Provide cover, as requested, at any of the other Mountbatten retail outlets when required.
7. HEALTH AND SAFETY
o Provide a safe environment that protects all employees, volunteers and the public.
o Comply with all health and safety regulations as per Mountbatten’s health and safety policy and procedures.
o Ensure that all Risk Assessments are current and that all employees/volunteers working in the shop are aware of them.
o In conjunction with the Area Manager & Retail Operations Manager, set and pursue sales targets and initiatives.
o Ensure that all shop management and working practices follow Mountbatten policies and procedures.
o Attend all Shop Manager Meetings as required.
o Provide cover, as requested, at any of the other Mountbatten retail outlets when required.
