We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, experienced, hardworking registered Pharmacy Technician with an Accuracy Checking Qualification. To ensure the safe running of clinical trials within the pharmacy department in accordance with Good Clinical Practice, guidelines, and national regulations in collaboration with the clinical trials pharmacist.
Main duties of the job
* To ensure the safe running of clinical trials within the pharmacy department in accordance with the dispensing protocol, Good Clinical Practice guidelines, and national regulations in collaboration with the clinical trials pharmacist.
* To train staff, including new starters, in the safe dispensing and operation of clinical trials in the pharmacy department.
* Write Standard Operating Procedures regarding the safe and accurate dispensing of clinical trials and for other, and possibly unique, aspects of each trial and ensure that they are implemented and that staff are aware of any new changes.
* Ensure that returned clinical trial material is processed in accordance with guidance from the clinical trials company and available for collection or destruction as required.
* Liaise with research staff of all grades across the hospital regarding the safe, accurate, and efficient dispensing of clinical trials.
* Ensure that documentation for clinical trials is kept in accordance with Trust policies, clinical trial legislation, and the direction of the sponsoring clinical trial company.
* To participate in audit and inspection of the Pharmacy service to clinical trials by the MHRA or QCNW as appropriate.

* The Countess of Chester Hospital: providing 438 general and acute beds.

The Trust employs over 6258 staff (headcount) which includes temporary bank staff and provides acute emergency and elective services, primary care direct access services, and obstetric services to a population of approximately 407,000. This includes 357,000 residents in Chester and West Cheshire, which includes Ellesmere Port and Neston, as well as the Deeside area of Flintshire which has a population of approximately 50,000.
The Trust is a busy district general hospital and in 2022/2023, there were more than 503,342 patient attendances (inpatient, outpatient, and diagnostic) ranging from a simple outpatient appointment to major cancer surgery. This is an increase of nearly 10,000 compared to the previous year when there were 494,387 patient attendances.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science or equivalent NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services.
* Completed an accredited accuracy checking program, demonstrating continuing competence.
* Attended GCP training.
* Training and experience in the effective management of clinical trials.
* Certificate in first line management.
* Recognised Health and safety qualification.
* D32/D33 or A1 qualification (NVQ Assessor) - Demonstrating continuing competence or willing to complete.
Experience

* Managerial / Supervisory experience.

* Procedure writing.
* Thorough understanding of policies and procedures.
