About the role
Historic Royal Palaces is a team of people who love and look after six of the most wonderful palaces in the world and their magnificent historical gardens.
We are recruiting for a Sustainability Project Support Apprentice, providing a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills while working at our historical sites.
As part of our commitment to addressing climate change, this role involves supporting the Decarbonisation programme, the largest workstream in our Sustainability Action Plan.
You will work closely with the Senior Project Manager, Decarbonisation, and other stakeholders across all HRP sites to support large-scale projects related to energy and sustainability.
This apprenticeship offers practical experience in project management, energy, construction, and an opportunity to learn about each of our palaces.
While studying towards your apprenticeship, your responsibilities will include:
Project controls
* Assisting with risk registers and change control systems
* Maintaining project files
* Collecting data for quality, cost control, and KPIs
* Supporting project reviews and closure
* Assisting with contract administration
Planning
* Setting up and maintaining project plans (Gantt charts)
* Creating charts and documents for proposals and presentations
* Preparing business case papers for various boards and committees
Project ordering, monitoring, and reporting
* Obtaining budget codes and raising Works Orders
* Recording payments and project changes
* Producing financial reports and liaising with Finance
Technical skills
* Conducting research and gaining expertise in Procore and Microsoft Project
* Handling delegated work packages
Communication
* Supporting project interpretation and communication materials
* Managing updates to intranet sites
Record management and administration
* Maintaining digital archives
* Producing and issuing documents
* Taking minutes and managing queries
* Ordering supplies and arranging meetings
To be eligible, candidates must meet the following criteria:
* Be 18 or over on 2nd September 2025
* Reside in the UK
* Not hold a degree or equivalent qualification, nor be in full-time education
* Have five GCSEs at grade C/4 or above, including English and mathematics
* Possess at least three A-Levels or Level 3 BTEC in relevant subjects
