Salary: £27,630 to £36,551 per annum (experience dependent)
About the role:
Exciting opportunity to join our growing procurement team in a new position focused on purchasing activities.
Youll report into the Purchasing Manager and assist in the procurement of materials, equipment, and services for the NCC. Youll also work closely with the Procurement Category Leads to support specific category needs.
This would include assisting all NCC staff with purchasing enquiries (P2P process), ensuring correct Public Sector procurement regulations and internal procurement processes are followed.Supporting the Advanced Procurement Category Leads in carrying out tenders over the £189,000 threshold or where the requirements are of high risk and/or complexity and youll also provide general administrative support to the procurement function.
What youll be doing:
Carry out the procurement sourcing process in order to ensure the NCC requirements are competed compliantly and best value for money is gained;
Ensure all Purchase Requisitions from all areas of the business adhere to the correct process and where this is not adhered to, inform PO Administrators and end users, supporting them with corrective actions;
Complete Requests of Quotations on behalf of NCC end users, when requested, providing adequate commercial advice;
Carry out the new supplier vetting process, enter and maintain supplier records on the UBS system;
Place purchase orders with suppliers, track progress and expedite deliveries via the UBS system following the correct guidance;
Liaise with key stakeholders, including contractors, suppliers, and internal departments, to solve queries and ensure timely delivery of materials and services;
Raise direct Purchase Orders for credit card expenditure and zero value POs;
Amend POs with revised details and in line with correct guidance and internal processes;
Produce Product Receipts on the UBS system;
Monitor and maintain procurement records, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
Support the Procurement Team in carrying out market engagement and sourcing strategy to identify a procurement route to market to enable tender packs to be issued;
Assist suppliers in the utilisation of the e-tender portal ensuring the processes are user-friendly and efficient;
Build and maintain working relationships with contracted/preferred suppliers and with other third parties as required throughout the purchasing process.
So, what are we looking for in your application?
We like to see diverse applications and welcome people from different industries.Specific experience we will look for in your CV would include;
Any prior experience in a related supply chain, purchasing or procurement style role.
Wed really like you to have Maths and English GCSEs at Grade C/4 or equivalent
High level of competency with Microsoft Office, in particular Excel.
Desirable (please apply if you have the points above but not these) - Level 3 CIPS qualified (or working towards it), any experience of contract negotiations.
In terms of personal skills, we look for people who are proactive and curious!
