Job Description:
Summary
We’re looking for an experienced communications and marketing specialist to encourage supporters to visit, join, donate and volunteer, and to promote a much-loved charity.
You’ll report directly into the Assistant Director for Consultancy in Wales and manage a team of 4 direct reports.
Based at any of our hub in Wales, this is a full-time position, however we’re open to considering applicants who are looking for part-time with a minimum of 4 days per week.
Internally you’ll be known as Communications & Marketing Consultant.
What it's like to work here
The Trust cares for many special places across Wales, from spectacular mountains, coast and countryside to some of the country’s finest castles, houses and gardens.
You’ll be part of the Trust’s internal consultancy: a flexible resource of specialist skills and expertise. As one of a multidisciplinary team of experts, including curators, fundraisers, building surveyors and project managers, you’ll be working with others to help make things happen.
As this role covers Wales, your contractual place of work will be the nearest National Trust consultancy hub to your home. Our hybrid working policy means you can balance office and home working with site visits and meetings at other National Trust places. We’ll talk about this in more detail at interview, but you should expect to be at a National Trust site for 20-40% of your working week.
What you'll be doing
You’ll lead our communications and marketing team in Wales, helping to achieve the aims of our strategy, promoting the rich natural and built heritage of our places, developing a distinctive Welsh voice and brand in Wales, driving growth in visits to National Trust places and working closely with local teams.
You’ll be leading the creation of content on a range of channels to help bring Trust places to life for everyone. You'll be leading and inspiring colleagues based in local teams, coaching and mentoring them to improve their communications and marketing skills, knowledge and confidence.
Your work will spark conversations, provide compelling reasons to visit and raise awareness and understanding of the Trust’s cause and work. You'll thrive on the challenge of balancing competing demands.
You’ll work collaboratively with communications and marketing teams right across the Trust, making sure plans are integrated, creating content for owned, earned and paid channels and evaluating the impact of your work.
Who we're looking for
* experienced in creating communications and marketing plans within a region or business area, and achieving their targets
* familiar with using a web content management system and search engine optimisation
* a proficient expert in communications and marketing
* a skilled communicator, fluent in Welsh and English, who can build strong relationships within diverse teams, both internally and externally
* passionate and knowledgeable about Welsh history, heritage and culture
* a flexible thinker and problem-solver, skilled at negotiating and building productive networks, and confident in using your expertise to influence decisions
* proactive and organised, with experience of managing projects and a talent for multi-tasking and getting things done, strongly focused on detail, quality, cost and time
* an experienced team leader, and advocate for inclusion, who finds ways to create an inclusive culture
The package
The National Trust has the motto ‘For everyone, for ever’ at its heart. We’re working hard to create an inclusive culture, where everyone feels they belong. It’s important that our people reflect and represent the diversity of the communities and audiences we serve.
