Full time Electrical Teacher, Harlow, Essex Your new company Working on behalf of one of the UK’s most prestigious colleges, based in Harlow, Essex, UK. Our client is looking for Electrical Professionals who are looking to move into teaching. As an educator, you will be teaching a diverse group of learners for 16- 19-year-olds, and you may be asked to teach adults or apprentices. Your new role The level of courses you will teach include Level 2 and Level 3. Level 2 courses are usually considered intermediate, while Level 3 courses are more advanced and often equivalent to vocational or technical education. In addition to teaching on full-time courses, you may also have the opportunity to teach apprenticeships at Level 3. Apprenticeships are a form of employment-based training, allowing students to work and study simultaneously to gain practical experience and industry-specific skills. Students on apprenticeship courses attend college 1 day per week and attend work 4 days. A critical aspect of your teaching role would involve understanding and addressing student learning needs. This includes recognising individual differences, adapting teaching strategies, providing appropriate support, and facilitating inclusive learning environments to ensure students can effectively engage with the course material and achieve their learning goals. What you’ll need to succeed To become an Electrical Teacher, you'll need a combination of technical and teaching skills. Here are some key skills that would be beneficial: • City & Guilds Level 3 Electrotechnical Qualification (Installation) or (Maintenance) (5357-03), or equivalent. • Level 3 Award in the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS7671:2018, or equivalent. • Initial and Periodic Electrical Inspection and Testing (2391), or equivalent. • Time served in the Electrotechnical industry 5 years, ideally within a range of specialisms e.g. domestic, commercial and industrial • Wiring regulations 18th Edition, 2382-22 exam • ECS Heath and Safety • AM2 Assessment of occupational competence If you do not hold a level 4 or equivalent teaching qualification, you will have the opportunity to obtain this within 5 years from the appointment date, which will be funded by the college.
