Job description
We are looking for an experienced and dedicated leader with a strong understanding of the EYFS and Child Development and with excellent leadership skills to create a nurturing, engaging and ambitious learning environment.
We seek a qualified level 3 or level 6 practitioner / leader or an early years teacher who has at least 2 years experience in a leadership role.
The four main areas of this role are:
1. Lead the teaching and learning in pre-school following our ambitious and sequential nursery curriculum
1. Lead the learning in the room, ensuring all staff interact well and support children's learning.
2. Monitor staff planning to ensure it is informed by children's assessment.
3. Ensure the environment and routine is organised well to support children's learning.
4. Manage and motivate a team of practitioners ensuring they provide high quality care and learning.
5. Ensure parents are well informed about their child's development and what they can do at home to support progress.
2. Ensure children’s wellbeing and safety
1. Promote children’s rights, equal opportunities and inclusion.
2. Ensure all staff communicate respectfully and sensitively with children and inform parents of their child's key person.
3. Ensure all children's individual and special needs are identified and met through partnership working.
4. To undertake a DSL role within the nursery.
5. To ensure a safeguarding culture.
3. Ensure the smooth running of the nursery and operational procedures
1. Maintain accuracy of all nursery records including admission forms, allergy records, registers, accident and incident forms, risk assessment, sleep charts etc.
2. Monitor and manage child ratios and deployment of staff.
3. Respond to all queries and complaints promptly with a successful outcome for children and parents.
4. Lead nursery in the manager's absence.
5. Arrange parent events and meetings.
6. Key holder responsibility.
4. Maintain and model professional conduct and lead staff training and development
1. Promote the ethos of the nursery so that staff have the skills to provide outstanding childcare, honest communication, inclusive and respectful practice, nurturing relationships and energy, enthusiasm and excitement.
2. Keep up to date with current legislation and guidance and attend conferences, training events, or meetings to improve outcomes for children.
3. Undertake any other reasonable duties, in accordance with the business plan and objectives of Shine Nursery.
4. Through guidance, teaching, leadership and mentoring, support all staff to develop the necessary skills and competencies to be outstanding practitioners.
