On the Isle of Wight, our new Children’s Service leadership team understands that our social workers, managers, and staff require the right environment to succeed in this challenging, rewarding, and important field.
Our vision is ‘creating change together’, using language that cares which drives our values and behaviours to create change - in partnership with our children and families, our dedicated Children’s Service staff, our partners, and community services, to improve the lives of children on the Isle of Wight.
We are looking for successful managers within children’s social care who are ready to take their next career step as new Team Managers for Children’s Support and Protection Services.
The Isle of Wight is a beautiful county, but many families struggle with areas of socioeconomic deprivation and child poverty. We also have dynamic international high-tech companies and national investment, making the Isle of Wight a great place to live and work.
Our Council has invested further in children’s social care, creating two more Children’s Support and Protection Teams. We are recruiting to two more team managers and a further second service manager for operations.
The benefits of this review and redesign include:
1. Less children in line of sight of managers
2. Greater capacity to provide management oversight/grip/reflective supervision
3. Smaller teams, that can focus on quality assessments/plans
4. Each team is on duty once every six weeks
Our Resilience Around the Families Team is a dedicated resource with adult mental health professionals, adult substance misuse professionals, and a team of trained volunteers. Our Family Hub offer is nationally recognised as a trailblazer providing access to a range of targeted early intervention and early help support services.
We have a positive, supportive culture and working environment. Our agency workers often choose to return to work with us due to the quality of the service.
If you have difficulty completing your online application or need further information about how to apply, phone 01983 823134 or email callcentre@iow.gov.uk. Only applications submitted online by the closing date will be accepted.
We actively encourage applications from all cultures, backgrounds, and abilities to better reflect the diversity within our local community.
