The Simulator & Training Solutions (STS) Hardware Engineering department seeks a Senior Engineering Manager to lead a team of hardware design engineers.
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a team involved in the design and development of a wide variety of programs and products, primarily focused on the hardware design and configuration of Visual Display Systems supporting both Commercial and Government end users.
The manager will lead a group of approximately 12 hardware engineers and provide direct technical support to projects as required. This position will be based onsite at Burgess Hill, United Kingdom and reports directly to the Associate Director of Hardware Engineering for STS.
Responsibilities
1. Leads team responsible for providing technical direction of a variety of Program and Product developments covering requirements through to delivery and support through lifecycle.
2. Interacts with program management and applicable engineering disciplines ensuring that scope is managed, and staffing plans are achievable.
3. Holds team accountable for meeting planned program schedules and budgets.
4. Actively manages staff loading, ensuring the firm and anticipated demand is accurate and appropriate staff levels are allocated.
5. Assesses employee's skills and identifies training and development needed for team.
6. Establishes strong team through recruiting, hiring, onboarding and assimilation of new hires.
7. This position may require occasional travel.
8. Assists in the tactical implementation of the organization's strategic goals.
9. Ensures all enterprise engineering, quality and business conduct process and policies are implemented and understood.
Desired Skills/Experience
1. Experience in simulation hardware design and development, verification/validation, and interfaces would be beneficial.
2. Experience of SolidWorks and AutoCad.
3. Knowledge of ALM tools such as JIRA and Crucible.
4. Development of powerful networks as relationships between Engineering, Business Development and Program Management.
5. Ability to lead and mentor team members.
Must Haves
1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
2. Ability to lead and direct a technical team possessing strong supervisory and leadership skills.
3. Experience in the engineering development process from bids and proposal through verification and validation.
4. Resource planning experience for successful project execution.
5. Bachelor's degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline.
