About the role
Argyll and Bute Council’s Infrastructure Design Service comprises of a dynamic team of 12 Engineers and 7 Technicians and Officers at various levels. We run a variety of multi-disciplinary projects such as bridges, piers & harbours, coastal and flooding schemes as well as depot, cemetery, waste facilities and car park developments.
Our projects are located across the whole of Argyll and Bute which includes 23 inhabited islands and they range from pounds to millions of pounds in cost. The projects include the commissioning and management of Professional Service contracts as well as carrying out in-house designs for, preparation of tender packages for and site supervision of a wide range of construction contracts. In addition, we consult with members of the public and stakeholders to secure licences with SEPA, Marine Scotland, Crown Estates etc on a daily basis. Many projects are unique and the majority take schemes all the way from concept to completion.
The salary grading is LGE 9/10/11 (£33, - £45,) depending on qualifications and ICE attributes obtained. The post allows progression from Graduate Engineer through attainment of ICE attributes to Assistant Engineer and to Engineer upon attaining either Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status within ICE.
