Job Title: Quality Technician (Weld) – Afternoons – 4 Day week
Salary: £27,855 rising to £29,279 when role objectives are reached with 20% shift allowance for afternoon shift
Hours: 16:30 – 02:00 Monday to Thursday
Contract: Full time & permanent
Location: Desford, Leicestershire
The Opportunity
As Quality Technician (Weld) in the Quality department, you will support us as we seek to maintain and improve the quality of machines leaving the Desford facility. You will perform MIG and MAG Weld, Weld Finish, Stud Weld, Thread Tapping and Stud/Bolt Extraction techniques and other repair processes as needed.
What you will do
As a Quality Technician (Weld), you are accountable for, but not limited to:
1. Rework parts and machines as required (Tasks may include: Tapping, drilling, grinding, welding, cutting, fettling metal and/or plastics depending on task).
2. Record defect information in detail via electronic, manual processes or visual boards.
3. Determine conformity of parts and machines, investigate, analyse and identify Root Cause, and operate the NCM (Non-Confirming Material) process.
4. Conduct basic visual and dimensional inspection as part of investigations.
5. Read and interpret engineering drawings.
6. Must be willing to work a multi-shift pattern.

What You Can Demonstrate:
1. Repair Processes: MIG and MAG Welding Certification and weld finish experience. Perform the following job-specific tasks: Tapping, drilling, grinding, welding, cutting, fettling metal and/or plastics.
2. Quality Operations: Communicates across departments and teams to ensure a smooth workflow. Proactively reviews reject areas to ensure targets are achieved.
3. Quality Knowledge: Read and interpret engineering drawings and quality standards. Able to inspect parts or machines to determine conformity.
4. Safety: Proactive in managing safety standards and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Foster psychological safety and team engagement, ensuring open communication and collaboration across diverse groups.
5. Process Improvement: Evaluates production methods and maintains focus, with team input, on promoting the continuous improvement of processes and products utilizing lean, Six Sigma and drive innovation.
6. Prioritisation: Self-motivated and able to proactively manage multiple priorities.
What You May Have:
1. Assembly and rework experience of Caterpillar machines.
