My client is seeking a Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer, mechanical or electrical biased, with expertise in both disciplines and significant experience in steam and boiler systems. The role involves maintaining plant equipment and building services to ensure optimal performance, reliability, safety, and product quality. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this role will operate on a 12-hour shift Panama pattern to support a 24/7 facility.
Responsibilities:
* Complete assigned tasks efficiently and to the highest standard.
* Adopt a “right-first time” work ethic and use root cause analysis to identify and address underlying issues.
* Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety regulations and promote a safe working environment
* Work safely both independently and as part of a team, maintaining a duty of care to yourself and others.
* Utilise the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for job logging and reporting, ensuring clear communication of work completed and spare parts required.
Qualifications:
* City & Guilds or BTEC in Engineering.
* Recognised engineering qualification.
* Previous experience in a maintenance engineering role.
* Safe Electrical Working certification.
* Proficiency in basic fault-finding on single and three-phase electrical systems.
* General fabrication and welding skills.
* Proficiency in using computers for reporting and logging jobs in maintenance systems.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Expertise in steam and boiler systems.
* Familiarity with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
* Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
* Strong problem-solving skills and ability to prioritise workloads under pressure.
* Experience working within the food industry is advantageous.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
* Strong interpersonal skills, treating others with dignity and respect.
* Flexibility with working hours when required.
Familiarity or training in:
* COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health)
* IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health)
* HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point)
* Food Hygiene procedures
* Worked on Steam and Boiler systems.
