The CORE Pantry Advice Caseworker role is a Feeding Britain funded position, initially for nine months, to deliver high quality advice and support to outreach clients to deal with their financial and other social welfare issues. The role is based at the CORE pantry situated at the Church of the Resurrection, Upton Priory, Macclesfield and the post holder will be required to work at this outreach location in line with the Pantry core opening hours : Wednesday 3pm-5pm, and Thursday 11am – 1pm We are looking for an experienced adviser with good communication and IT skills to support clients to improve their financial health and wellbeing. We require someone with a commitment to the aims and principles of the Citizens Advice Service. This role is initially for 9 months, but there is the possibility of further funding, based on the project's impact, and ongoing evaluation of the project is key. The purpose of the project is to provide one to one advice appointments to clients who are in, or at risk of, poverty, and who are accessing the CORE Pantry in Macclesfield. Additionally the post-holder will promote the service, engage with the CORE Pantry staff and service users, and other people in the locality. Clients will often be vulnerable and may be struggling to pay their bills. Advice will include, but will not be restricted to, help with welfare benefits, debts, income maximisation, grant eligibility and With the aim of improving clients’ standard of living, you will deliver advice and casework on a wide range of issues such as benefits, debt, housing, employment, family and immigration. This will include interviewing and assisting clients with in-depth benefits checks, applications and form completion, budgeting advice and money management; and negotiating with third parties. This role will include casework where the adviser advocates for the client – for example including assisting in preparing benefit claims and appeals; advocating on behalf of clients with employers and landlords. Ideally you will be able to deliver debt advice adhering to Financial Conduct Authority standards. As well as a personable and empathetic manner, the post holder will need to be very well organised and able to respond to changing demands on their time.
