The SDA has this exciting career opportunity for an experienced and motivated Engineering professional to join our Trident Systems Project Team (TSPT). By joining TSPT, you will integrate with a team of highly skilled professionals to support some of the largest and most complex engineering programmes in the world. Youll engage with complex weapons and submarine systems to oversee engineering challenges unique to this industry, whilst providing support to the Royal Navy and a significant impact on the success of our projects. As a specialist member of the SDA, you will act as the Equipment Authority within the Operational Delivery Pillar and will lead on the provision of support to engineering systems associated with the Trident II weapon used by Vanguard and Dreadnought Class submarines. In support of the Continuous at Sea Deterrent (CASD), you will be directly responsible for the through life support to the Strategic Weapon Systems (SWS) Training Auxiliary Equipment installed at the UK Trident Training Facility and United Kingdom Software Facility to Support Royal Navy and wider enterprise training. Training Auxiliary Equipment (TAE) Engineering Manager is responsible for support of the delivery of through life technical support and equipment procurement for Trident SWS TAE in-service Vanguard and Dreadnought Class submarines, on behalf of the Trident Systems Project Team Operational Delivery Pillar, in support of the Continuous At Sea Deterrent (CASD). You will have the opportunity to develop knowledge and experience in the TRIDENT II SWS, its operations, maintenance, and management. Due to the nature of this work, working with Stakeholders is critical to success. You will therefore be required to upload strong and productive relationships and provide subject matter expert advice to SDA teams and our contractors. Your primary place of work will be His Majestys Naval Base Clyde, Faslane, Helensburgh, Argyll and Bute, G84 8HL. However, you will have regular travel to the USA and domestic travel to locations such as, MOD Abbey Wood, Bristol and United Kingdom Software Facility, near Bath. This role requires you to have lived in the UK for the last 10 years and obtain Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance. Clearance must be obtained without any caveats that prevent you from carrying out the role you have been recruited for. If it isnt obtained or is obtained but with caveats that prevent you from carrying out the role, any conditional offer made to you will be withdrawn. Obtaining DV security clearance can be a lengthy process. Responsibilities : Maintain and manage effective working communications with both US and UK Stakeholders to ensure activity is conducted in line with Technical Arrangements and processes. Plan and review implications of external design changes to Sub-Systems and Equipment and maintain effective liaison with all US and UK stakeholders, in support of Design Change Processes. Manage design change implementation within the Trident Training Facility to SWS/SWSS Sub-Systems, including implications of design changes to the wider platform. Act as the Equipment Authority focal point for all In-Service and maintenance activities, and provide technical direction and advice to all stakeholders involved. Resolve in-service and maintenance related technical issues, liaising with US Government departments and US/UK contractors. Ensure documentation in support of the Equipment programme is current and suitably authorised for use. Assist in the management of the procurement, installation, setting to work, testing, maintenance, refit and disposal of SWS/SWSS equipment ensuring alignment with authorised processes and procedures. Participate in the analysis of trends and deviations to standards, raising any related risks and issues, as well as feedback into Learning from Experience events. Provide assurance of the safe and professional status of the programme. Ensure all Engineering Governance Arrangements and Assurances required by the SDA and TSPT are adhered to. Manage any Waivers, Deviations or Concessions required to record Sub-System configuration deltas and the necessary development plans to remove Waivers, Deviations or Concessions. Person specification Hold professional registration at Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status or higher or demonstrate suitable equivalent experience to achieve this within 9 months. Relevant Level 4 (HNC or higher) qualification or equivalent experience. Experience of working within an In-service engineering environment. Experience of providing technical advice and leading the delivery of successful engineering outcomes. Wide ranging depth and breadth of technical experience in own specialism with knowledge and application of Systems Engineering approaches.
